Ever been somewhere other than a developed resort and thought “Man I want to carve/jib/butter/etc that!” I find myself thinking that year round. More than once I have
thought of throwing a water ski rope off the back of the car to get a few quick carves in transit. One place I have never thought of riding, Afghanistan. There has been a surprising tourist boom in a country in the midst of war. Currently the US State department has warnings against travel to Afghanistan. Add on to that no use of credit cards, high rates of violence and the extreme danger of kidnapping and you probably aren’t packing your passport and board for a winter weekend in Kabul. However recently a group of Australians and New Zealanders did. The group was shooting a documentary and carving up the untouched slopes of the Koh-e-Baba mountains, an area unreachable by commercial flights.
